President & General Manager

Will’s passion for building began at an early age through woodworking and a fascination with making things by hand. After beginning his professional career in the technology industry, he met Charles Woods and found an opportunity to pursue what had long been a personal passion. He joined Charles Woods Builder in 2019, earned his North Carolina general contractor’s license, and now serves as President and General Manager.

Will brings a craftsman’s perspective to his leadership, combining a deep appreciation for traditional building methods with the practical demands of modern construction. He particularly enjoys the challenges of historic restoration, thoughtful renovations, and custom homebuilding. Whether working alongside the crew or guiding a project from its earliest stages, he believes that quality craftsmanship, honest communication, and lasting relationships are the foundation of good building.

Outside of work, Will continues to pursue his love of fine woodworking and traditional furniture making. He lives in Hillsborough with his wife, Taylor, and their two children, Adeline and Benjamin.

Designer

Born and raised in Hillsborough, NC, Gray Burton developed a passion for art and design at an early age. During his high school years, he dedicated much of his time to creating art and building furniture of his own design. Gray pursued his passion further by attending the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence, RI.

After earning his design degree, Gray moved to New York City, where he spent many years immersing himself in various facets of the design industry. He particularly thrived in working with clients to create spaces that were both classic and creative, design-forward yet affordable.

Gray eventually returned to Hillsborough and joined Charles Woods Builder, where he continues to create meaningful, approachable interiors. In this role, he combines his design expertise and local knowledge to craft beautiful, functional spaces that reflect his clients' unique styles and needs. Gray is dedicated to making high-quality design accessible and believes that thoughtful interiors can significantly enhance everyday living.
